One of the fun things about human behavior and trend watching is seeing things come, go and come again. In almost every field of endeavor there are practices which are best, then worst, then best again.
For many years I watched the medical community talk about coffee consumption as terrible for your health on even years. On odd years coffee studies would show that it’s good for you.
During the early social media craze, some marketers thought email marketing was dead. I still remember the day Chris Brogan was participating in #Blogchat and stressed the importance of email marketing. There was a virtual gasp on Twitter.
Last few years we’ve watched the growing visual trend in social media. Today, video is increasingly important for social strategy. Some would say that audio only or podcasts are dead. Don’t send your sympathy cards just yet…
Podcasters should start smiling. Professionals are saying that it’s easier today than ever to consume audio content. Most professionals say that it’s difficult to devote attention to video. They prefer to listen to audio content while driving or multitasking.
In January, during New Media Expo 2013 it was clear that there is a renewed interest in podcasting.
If your target audience includes sharp business people consider adding podcasting to your digital strategy. If you’re already engaged in video, consider that some of your viewers may not be viewing and only listening.
