A Boy’s Heart On our way to a field trip we saw a homeless man sitting on the ground, a cement wall behind him. After we passed my recently adopted 13 year old son asked, “Can we go back and give him some money?”. I asked if he felt directed by Lord and he said he did. Out of curiosity, I asked if he was donating my money or his own and said his own. We turned around and spent some time with Gary. He’s disabled and waiting for some paperwork to go through for Social Security. We gave Gary some money and described some local resources. Gary was deeply touched since he had no sign and wasn’t panhandling. He said, “You didn’t have to stop. Thank you. Means a lot.” After prayer and hugs, I thought we would continue to pray for Gary. Once we arrived at the field trip, one of the moms approached me to say she saw us ministering to Gary and that she and her sons were touched by it. As I get to know my son, I’m truly blessed and my heart is full. His situation has been difficult, at best, yet he’s sensitive to the needs of others. Fishing is his passion. Apparently, he loves more than one kind of fishing.
